Back to School
With a false start (the first day of classes was a snow day!), I’m back in school for the Spring semester. So far it’s mostly been going over the syllabus for each class, and figuring out what supplies I need.
My Design 1 class last semester worked on 11”x15” paper, which was just barely reasonable to carry flat on my motorcycle. Drawing 1 this semester wants 18”x24”, which requires a portfolio that acts as a sail (I know from experience). I’m going to try rolling the pieces and separating them with glassine.
Design 2 will have me make a website (!) with my progress. Stay tuned for a URL.
Both of my metalworking classes are light on equipment that I need to schlep back and forth (not bringing an anvil and forge to class or a sheet metal brake or shear!), so I will hopefully be motorcycling rather than driving most days.
The handout for blacksmithing includes this lovely sentence: “You will find a section at the end of this packet, discussing what to think about if you consider bringing an anvil into your life”.
